Reviews and Interviews

“Really enjoyed the dark vibe. Bit of a Banshees thing going on in there
somewhere - can I say that? . . . .not just Banshees, but the darker side of Depeche Mode and a bit of Nine Inch Nails. . . Lyrically, I've never heard anything quite like Buying a House ...The songs makes me want to dance, although I don’t really dance, and, strangely, drink vodka.  I say strangely coz I'm a beer/wine man.”

Tentacle:  The Dead Just Want to Dance.

Grand Rapids, Michigan

"Mesmerizing industrial music, dusky ambience, profound emotion and profane sentiments - meet Tentacle, possibly Grand Rapids' most twisted trio.  Their debut album, The Dead Just Want to Dance, is darkly alluring, the way wicked things always tend to be tempting.  Tentacle flaunts the undeniable beauty of the forbidden with their title track and touts the splendor of love with "Precious Fly".  The talents of Eric and Susan Stanek and Ryan Lieske expand far beyond this CD, so be sure to check out their web site at www.tentacleweb.com. -SB"

Tentacle   5/24   Ten Bells

"As if Clash isn't a cool enough night in it's won right, then they have to have local Industrial, and so much more, band Tentacle play ... now that is a night not to miss.   I was there.  I got to hear AND see Tentacle play some new songs.

It was a pretty great night with Ryan, Susan, Eric and some mysterious Bass player up on the stage.

This band is sweet ... check them out at tentacleweb.com

Bile

Ten Bells 11/7/04

So, I had never seen a national act at Ten Bells, which meant I had no idea how this was going to work.

Opening the show was some band, I never caught their name.  They were a low rent version of Slaves on Dope.  In fact I talked to a lot of people that were as bored with them as I was.

Up next was local sensation, Tentacle.  Yes this three-piece has a gimmick but it works for them.  They are self-described old school industrial band with a horror twist.  Just talk to Ryan and it will be evident.  As far as I'm concerned Tentacle stole the show and in fact they proved to be a hard act to follow thanks, in part, to the Devil Dolls.

Bile took the stage in a thick cloud of smoke, which never quite cleared.  This was my first time really hearing their music and I liked it.  Yet, for a veteran band, they lacked a stage show.  I have seen local bands get deeper into their music and stage presence.  Your best bet is to just pick up Bile's CDs and call it good.

Tentacle

The Dead Just Want to Dance

"This is what we need to see more of in Grand Rapids, some more progressive industrial music.  Ryan Lieske, Susan Stanek and Eric Stanek make up this interesting collaboration of distorted vocals, synthesized sound and well, just plain goodness.  I love this CD.  Run to your computer and visit tentacleweb.com... IMMEDIATELY!"
